Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) provides temporary, safe, and suitable housing for people who need a place to live while longer-term accommodation is being arranged.
MTA is designed to support people during housing transitions, ensuring you are not left without a secure home during periods of change or uncertainty.
MTA is commonly used while you are waiting for long-term housing, such as:
A Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home
A Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangement
A private rental or other permanent housing option
During your stay, MTA offers a stable and comfortable living environment, helping reduce stress and uncertainty while long-term arrangements are finalised.
MTA focuses on providing the home itself, including a safe space to live and basic household setup. Daily personal care or ongoing supports are funded separately, if required, through your NDIS plan.
Your plan must include MTA funding.
We help identify an MTA option that suits your needs.
You stay in the accommodation while waiting for long-term housing.
Once your permanent home is ready, you move on from MTA.
MTA helps you to:
Stay safe and supported
Avoid homelessness or unsuitable housing
Have stability during a housing transition
Reduce stress while waiting for long-term options
Your comfort, safety, and dignity are always important
MTA is for people who:
Are waiting for long-term housing to become available
Cannot stay in their current home
Are leaving hospital, care, or another setting
Need temporary housing due to unexpected changes
Have MTA funding included in their NDIS plan
MTA is not for holidays or short breaks.
