Supported Independent Living (SIL) helps you live in your own home while receiving the daily support you need to live safely and confidently.
SIL is designed for people who require regular assistance with everyday tasks, while still maintaining as much independence as possible. Support is personalised and based on your individual needs, goals, and routine.
Support may be provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or at specific times during the day or night, depending on what is approved in your NDIS plan. This ensures you receive the right level of help without taking away your independence.
SIL support can include assistance with personal care, daily routines, meal preparation, medication reminders, household tasks, and developing independent living skills.
Support workers are there to help you build confidence, maintain routines, and participate in everyday life, while respecting your choices, privacy, and preferences.
It’s important to understand that SIL is about support services, not the building itself. You can receive SIL support in different types of housing, including private homes, shared living arrangements, or SDA housing.
Your plan must include SIL funding.
An assessment looks at what support you need each day.
You choose where you live and who supports you.
Support workers help you daily and adjust support as needed.
